Olive and Sutter/Westgate was removed. The stop sign for southbound Sutter at Olive
remains in place. Temporary barricades are in place to deter traffic to move northbound on
Westgate.

3. Parking Restrictions in front of 7359 Lindell Blvd.

Catherine Button business owner of “Ms. M’s” at 7359 Lindell Blvd submitted a traffic request
dated December 7, 2007. Ms. Button is requesting for the City to designate on-street parking
for Customers Only in front of this location during business hours from Tuesday to Saturday
between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Mrs. Button states that Washington University Employees take the parking on the street for the
entire day, not allowing customers to park along the street. She is aware of the renovation of
the parking lot at the corner of Lindell and Forsyth.

The Municipal Code considers one hour parking restrictions (between the hours of nine a.m.
and six p.m. on any day) for the building at the north-east corner of Forsyth and Lindell (7335-
37 Forsyth). Currently, there are two businesses in this building: Forsyth Cleaners and
Quesa-dilla (food delivery).

Public Works considers that parking be restricted for two hours in front of 7359 Lindell for a
distance of 60 feet.

4. Request for no parking signs to be Installed in front of 7023 Forsyth driveway.

On December 19, 2007, Rev. Andrew Benko, submitted a traffic request form. He is
requesting that signs should be posted prohibiting parking at least 1 foot from the driveway at
7023 Forsyth Ave.

Rev. Benko states that there is a chronic/habitual abuse of drivers parking too close to the
driveway and it’s difficult to get in and out of the driveway. He stated that one of the Assistant
Chaplains had a wreck due to cars parked in the driveway space.
The Municipal Code states that it is unlawful for the operator of a vehicle to stop, stand or park
in front of a private or public driveway. However, there is no consideration for parking within a
specific distance from a driveway entrance.
Public Works understands that Forsyth is a busy road and that students from Washington
University will park in this area as frequently as possible. However, we have to consider that
there are many driveways along Forsyth that have the same problem.
5. Approval of Minutes – November 14, 2007 meeting.

Cc: Evelyn Shields-Benford, Director of Public Works
Major Ernest Green, Police Department
Lehman Walker, Director of Planning Department
Robert Wagner, Council Liaison

Agenda Traffic Commission Meeting January 9, 2008 Page
3
