Parking Restriction along Asbury Ave between Forsyth and Lindell Blvd.

Please find attached two (2) traffic requests to restrict parking on one side of Asbury Ave
between Forsyth Blvd and Lindell Blvd. One is from Dana Mareshie resident at 7199 Forsyth
received March 2, 2009 and the other submitted by Robert Petersen resident at 7201 Forsyth
Blvd received March 4, 2009. One is requesting for the parking restriction to be implemented in
the west side of the street and the other one for it to be implemented in the east side of the
street.

Currently, there is a “no parking” sign on the west side of the street but the restriction is not listed
in the Municipal Code. Therefore, an ordinance needs to be passed in order for the sign to be
enforced.

Asbury Ave is 23.7 ft wide and according to the Introduction to Traffic Practices, a guidebook for
Local Agencies, and AASHTO - American Association of State Highway and Transportation
Officials, the standard for Curb Parking Restrictions recommends to at least restrict parking on
one side of the street. There is a parking restriction on the east side of the street for Asbury
Ave. between Northmoor Dr and Forsyth Blvd.

The Public Work Department recommends restricting parking on one side of Asbury Ave
between Forsyth Blvd and Lindell Blvd.

2. He states that as a polling place, community center and
residential building, parking demand exceeds the available parking spaces on their lot.

Currently, parking is prohibited on Delcrest Drive on the north side thereof from its eastern
intersection with Delmar Boulevard, from eight a.m. to five p.m. every day of the week except
Sunday.
