For the Police and Community Development Departments to continue enforcing the
existing parking restriction

The Police Department recommendations as follows:

Stripe another lane for eastbound traffic to instruct drivers to use two lanes of eastbound
traffic.

Highway 40 will open in 9 months and the Traffic Commission can revisit the idea of lifting
the restriction after completion of the Highway 40 project

Police do agree that lifting of the lane restriction on Forsyth should be considered in
conjunction with the parking issues on Northmoor.

Continue keeping records of parking violations on Forsyth.

Public Work Department recommendations as follows:

Revisiting this item on the January 13, 2010 Traffic Commission meeting

Prepare a Traffic Study that calculates the total traffic volume during the peak a.m. and
p.m. rush hours on Forsyth before and after the opening of the new I-40.

Contacting the County and regional construction committees before performing any
changes.

Considering that it is unlawful for the operator of a vehicle to stop, stand or park such
vehicle within two hundred fifty (250) feet of any street intersection where traffic is
controlled by a traffic-control signal, unless a shorter distance is indicated by authority of
the city.

Work with Community Development/Police Department to enforce residents’ placement
of trash and recycling carts on the tree lawn and/or near curb and return of the cart by
9pm on the collection day.

Consideration should be given to continuing the restriction of parking in the am on
Mondays to allow adequate time for trash and recycling collection. The Traffic Study
would determine the appropriate areas along Forsyth to consider.

5.
