Traffic Commission Minutes <br />October 9, 2002 <br />Page 2 of 3 <br /> <br />? <br /> The Engineering Division stated the parking information for University Drive <br />according to the Municipal Code. This Division has no objections to removing <br />the prohibition in the north side near Jackson. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION: <br />? <br /> There was Chris Thompson from 375 Jackson Ave. present to speak. <br /> <br />The Commission voted unanimously to remove the no parking signs at the north <br />side thereof from Jackson Avenue to West Point Ct between the hours of 9:00 <br />a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on every day of the week except Saturday, Sunday and <br />holidays. <br /> <br /> <br />More safety for the Mooney Park <br />4) <br /> <br />BACKGROUND INFORMATION: <br />? <br /> A Traffic Request Form, dated August 12, 2002, was submitted by Laura and <br />Marc Seleman. They requested that the intersection on Amherst and Jackson <br />become a 3-way stop. This is to prevent any tragic accident due to the high <br />number of children at the park. <br />? <br /> There were two reported accidents (during the period from September 2000 to <br />February 2002) in the area in question. None of them involved injuries. <br />? <br /> The speed limit in the area is 25 miles / hour. <br />? <br /> The Engineering Division recommends that the request for new stop signs be <br />denied. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION: <br />? <br /> There was Marc Seleman from 7455 Stanford, present to speak. <br /> <br />The Commission voted for the Engineering Department go and study the <br />feasibility to remove the stop sign for Jackson at Cornell (heading southbound) <br />and place it at Amherst. The stop sign for Jackson at Cornell (heading <br />northbound) must stay. <br /> <br /> <br />5) Left Turn Signals at Delmar and Old Bonhomme <br /> <br />BACKGROUND INFORMATION: <br />? <br /> Kurt Odenwald (Councilman, Fifth District) is requesting the installation of left <br />turn signalization for cars traveling on Delmar and trying to make a left onto Old <br />Bonhomme. <br />? <br /> St Louis County Department of Highways and Traffic (Chuck Mc Collough) is <br />preparing a traffic study and still not come to a decision. <br />V:\WP51\Mariela-Projects\Traffic Commission\minutes\2002\Minutes 10-09-02.doc <br /> <br />
