<br />CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY <br />MINUTES OF THE TRAFFIC COMMISSION <br />MEETING ON FEBRUARY 12, 2003 <br /> <br /> <br />Acting chairperson Susan Schafers called the meeting to order at 6:40 p.m. Those <br />present were: <br /> <br />Melcine Henderson Shelley Welsch, Council Liaison <br />Elizabeth Schiller Mariela Tapia, Traffic Commission Secretary <br />Loretta Bryant Lt. Carl Coleman, Police Department <br /> <br />Residents were present representing the intersection of Ahern and Raisher, intersection <br /> <br />of Wilson and Shaftesbury and Alta Dena Subdivision. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />1) Stop Signs for northbound Mt. Olive at Morgan <br /> <br />BACKGROUND INFORMATION: <br /> <br />? <br /> A Traffic Request Form, dated January 29, 2003, was submitted by Larinda <br /> <br />Moore. She is requesting aStop Sign for northbound Mt. Olive at Morgan. Also, <br />she is requesting a stop sign for northbound Groby at Mt. Olive to control the flow <br />of traffic into that intersection. <br />? <br /> Is the recommendation of the Engineering Division, to deny the request for these <br />new stop signs. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION: <br /> <br />? <br /> None of the around residents attended the meeting. The following statements <br />were made: <br />The stop sign on northbound Mt. Olive at Morgan was denied since <br />? <br /> <br />there is an existing stop sign westbound on Morgan at Mt. Olive (since <br />Morgan is the street that carries the lowest volume of traffic). <br />The stop sign on northbound Groby at Mt. Olive was denied since <br />? <br /> <br />there is an existing yield sign northbound Mt. Olive at Groby. And <br />there is good sight distance. <br />There has not been any reported accidents at those intersections in <br />? <br /> <br />the last 3 years according to the Police Department records. <br /> <br /> <br />The Commission voted unanimously to deny the request for new stop signs <br />on northbound Mt.
