More safety for Mooney Park <br /> <br />BACKGROUND INFORMATION: <br /> <br />? <br /> A Traffic Request Form, dated August 12, 2002, was submitted by Laura and <br />Marc Seleman. They requested that the intersection on Amherst and Jackson <br />become a 3-way stop. <br />? <br /> On October 9, 2002, the Commission voted for the Engineering Division to study <br />the feasibility to remove the stop sign for Jackson at Cornell (for southbound <br />traffic) and place it at Amherst. The stop sign for Jackson at Cornell (heading <br />northbound) must stay. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION: <br /> <br />? <br /> No resident was present to discuss this the issue. <br />? <br /> The Engineering Division met with the County Traffic Engineers and they stated <br />that for the crosswalk at Jackson and Cornell, they not recommend removing the <br />stop sign southbound since that would confuse the drivers and the pedestrians <br />and will be very unusual. <br />? <br /> Speeding should be reported to the Police Department to enforce the speed limit. <br /> <br /> <br />The Commission voted to deny the feasibility to remove the stop sign for Jackson <br />at Cornell (for southbound traffic) and place it at Amherst. The traffic signs <br />must stay the way they are, stop signs northbound and southbound Jackson at <br />Cornell and stop sign eastbound Amherst at Jackson. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />6.
