Traffic Commission Minutes
February 12, 2003

4) No Parking Signs on the north side of University Dr near Jackson Ave.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

?
On October 9, 2002, the Commission voted unanimously to remove the no
parking signs on the north side of University Drive from Jackson Avenue to West
Point Ct. However, the residents of University Drive do not support this
recommendation. The residents were not aware about this issue back in October.

DISCUSSION:

?
Several residents were present and expressed their concerns. They were
strongly opposed to removing the parking prohibition. Mrs. Koken, from 7408
stated that there was no vandalism on the North side. Mr. Tamsky from 7405
University Drive stated that a commercial business has too many vehicles for a
residential area, and the restriction signs have been there for several years
(more than 15). Mr. Osborn at 360 West Point Ct. stated that he cant get in or
out of his driveway since the employees of Saddle and Bridle use University
Drive for accessible parking. Mrs. Young from 7474 University Drive stated that
is a safety matter to keep the parking prohibition.
?
Reviewing the two blocks in question, the Commission noted that there is a fire
hydrant, and the fact that there is no parking allowed within 25 feet from an
intersection. Therefore, to revoke the parking prohibition just allows one parking
space.

The Commission voted to keep the parking prohibition the way it is, Monday to
Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

V:\WP51\Mariela-Projects\Traffic Commission\minutes\2003\Minutes 02-12-03.doc
