<br />6801 Delmar Boulevard, University City, MO 63130 <br />Phone: 314-862-6767, Fax: (314) 862-0694 <br /> <br /> <br />CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY <br />MINUTES OF THE TRAFFIC COMMISSION <br />MEETING ON October 13, 2004 <br /> <br />Acting chairperson Elizabeth Schiller called the meeting to order at 6:40 p.m. Those present were: <br /> <br />Tobias Gibson Shelley Welsch, Council Liaison <br />Raymond Creer Mariela Tapia, Traffic Commission Secretary <br /> St. Whitley, Police Department Representative <br /> <br />The attendance sheet is attached indicating the residents present. <br /> <br />1. Approval of the minutes from the September 8, 2004 meeting <br /> <br />The Traffic Commissioners voted unanimously to approve the minutes. <br /> <br />2. Intersection for Kingsland and Loop South <br /> <br />Elsie Glikert addressed the Commissioners and stated that last spring, representatives of the <br />University City East Citizen Action Committee requested that the Traffic Commissioners study the <br />intersection of Kingsland and Loop South during the summer months and that at the last traffic <br />th <br />commission meeting (September 8), Ms. Glickert requested that the Commission table the issue <br />and study the site for another month and wait until the students return. <br /> <br />Also present were Susan Schafers and Melcine Henderson, Traffic Commissioners. <br /> <br />Ms. Glickert is recommending stop signs for the movement south and the movement north on <br />Kingsland. <br /> <br />Ms. Schiller mentioned that her concern is that during rush hours a stop sign for southbound <br />Kingsland could backup traffic across Delmar. <br /> <br />The Police Department recommended the pavement to be painted and a yield sign for southbound <br />Kingsland be installed. Ms. Glickert accepted the Police Department’s recommendation. <br /> <br />The Traffic Commissioners voted unanimously to paint the lanes onto Kingsland and Loop <br />south and to install a Yield sign for southbound Kingsland on the south east corner of the <br />existing island. <br /> <br />Just for informational purposes, Ms. Glickert mentioned crosswalks are needed on Etzel and <br />Kingsland but she was advised to contact the Public Works Department for this issue. <br /> <br /> <br />V:\WP51\Mariela-Projects\Traffic Commission\minutes\2004\Minutes 10-13-04.doc <br /> <br />
