Michael Ransom, Police Department

No residents were present

Tobias Gibson was welcomed as a new Traffic Commissioner.

1.APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES FROM THE December 10, 2003 MEETING

The commission voted unanimously to approve the minutes.

2.No Parking at Any Time sign in front of 7320 Forsyth

Background:
Residents at the new condo building at 7320 Forsyth requested a “No Parking at Any Time
Sign” in front of their building. This issue was discussed on the last Traffic Commission
th
meeting on December 10, 2003. The Public Works Department received a lot of input in
opposition to the request.

The Engineering Division recommended prohibiting parking at any time in front of 7320
Forsyth from the west side of the driveway to 15 feet to the west (just in front of the green
area between the driveway and the entrance).

Discussion:
The item was discussed last month but it was sent out to get the comments from the people
in that area. We received 10 emails, 2 letters and 5 phone calls in opposition to the
request.

Ms. Schiller wanted to point out that after looking at the driveway again she realized that is
almost 3 cars wide. For some reason, she was thinking that it was much smaller and she
could see the visibility problem, but not with 3 cars length of driveway.

Mr. Gibson mentioned that he actually pulls out and turns at the driveway, driving an SUV
(Ford Explorer). He doesn’t think that additional 15 feet (just one parking space) is going to
give them the visibility that they think they need.

V:\WP51\Mariela-Projects\Traffic Commission\minutes\2004\Minutes 1-14-04.doc
