Page 2
Minutes January 14, 2004
Traffic Commission Meeting

Ms. Schiller stated that obviously it is a hard place to get in and out but she has the feeling
that if they agree to give that location additional space (having already a nice driveway) they
could start receiving the same petition from the building next to it (that has a driveway that
comes out of the basement and is really small). Parking is already limited in the area.

Mr. Gibson mentioned that the existing parking restriction is a fair amount of time for the
people not to park. Businesses around should not be affected.

The Traffic Commission voted to deny any restrictions on parking in front of 7320
Forsyth.

3.No Right turn at Intersection Canton and Quendo and Canton and Waldron

Background:
Mary Weber requested a “No Right Turn” at the intersection of Canton and Quendo and
Canton and Waldron due to the tremendous amount of “cut through” traffic using the
neighborhood to avoid using Midland to get to Canton.

The Engineering Division recommended denying the request since the average volume of
traffic for a residential street is around 200. The resident mentioned volumes of 50 cars per
day.

Discussion:
Ms. Henderson is familiar with the area and understands that during the summer, the
volume in residential streets is heavier.

The Traffic Commission voted to install “SPEED LIMIT 25 MPH” at the beginning
of 1300 block of Waldron, for northbound traffic and for police to patrol the area.

4.For information purposes: Street Petition to make the 6500 block of Corbitt Ave, one-

way going east.

The Commissioners mentioned the fact that Sutter Ave is under construction, and is affecting
the residents in the area. This issue is going to be discussed on next month traffic meeting.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:45 p.m.

Minutes prepared by Mariela Tapia, Secretary of the Traffic Commission
V:\WP51\Mariela-Projects\Traffic Commission\minutes\2004\Minutes 1-14-04.doc
