6801 Delmar Boulevard, University City, MO 63130
Phone: 314-862-6767, Fax: (314) 862-0694

CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY
MINUTES OF THE TRAFFIC COMMISSION
MEETING ON December 8, 2004

Acting chairperson Susan Schafers called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. Those present
were:

Elizabeth Schiller Tobias Gibson
Loretta Bryant Raymond Creer
Melcine Henderson St. Whitley, Police Department Representative
Catherine Nichols Mariela Tapia, Traffic Commission Secretary

The attendance sheet is attached indicating the residents present.

I. Pedestrian and Vehicular Safety on Oakbrook Forest

This information was presented in the November traffic commission meeting for the
Commissioners information. At that time, Lisa Frumhoff was present and mentioned her
concerns. She stated that there is an enormous amount of traffic that uses Oakbrook as a
cut-thru from McKnight to Delmar, especially in the mornings and rush hours. Also,
motorists are speeding and honking to the motorists backing out their driveways along
Oakbrook. There are several kids, elderly individuals, and walkers.

Several traffic requests were presented by the residents of the Oakbrook Forest
neighborhood. The Engineering Division reviewed all the requests and the following are
the items warranted as agenda items for the meeting:

1. Stop signs at all corners for Oakbrook and Gannon intersection

Nancy Weisman, resident at 701 Oakbrook Lane was present and stated that the
stop sign on westbound Gannon is frequently ignored by drivers.

Present were Lisa Frumhoff, resident at 852 Oakbrook Lane and Christopher
Coulter, resident at 846 Oakbrook Lane. They stated their concerns about speed
on Oakbrook lane. Also, since cars park along the street it makes the street
narrower for cars to travel. There are no sidewalks along Oakbrook for people to
walk.

Ms. Schafers informed that cars parking along the street make it more difficult for
cars to speed.

Ms. Tapia submitted to Ms. Frumhoff, a letter in response to the Oakbrook
neighborhood multiple requests. Also, mentioned that the Public Works Department
will install “speed limit” signs along Oakbrook and “no parking from here to corner”
sign at the intersection Oakbrook-Delmar.
V:\WP51\Mariela-Projects\Traffic Commission\minutes\2004\Minutes 12-8-04.doc
