Page 3
Minutes March 10, 2004
Traffic Commission Meeting

Ms. Henderson gave her comment about taking into consideration the recommendation
from the Engineering Department based on the traffic counts and resident’s opinion.

Ms. Schafers mentioned that based on the amount of cars using the streets and the
amount of houses, it seems like that’s the traffic from the cars on the block. It is not
excessive for the area.

Ms. Henderson, Ms. Schafers and Mr. Gibson agreed not to make any recommendation
prior to reviewing the police accident reports.

Ms. Merritt asked for another solution to slow down the traffic. Slow signs were
mentioned.

Mr. Moffitt mentioned that he received a comment from the former assistant Chief Traffic
Engineer for St. Louis County Highways and Traffic indicating that for school areas,
motorists do not slow down until they see kids, not just because of 20 mph signs.

The Commissioners voted to table this item until they receive the police accident reports
for the last 3 years and to get more inputs from residents.

3.Approval of the minutes from the February 11, 2004 meeting

The minutes were unanimously approved.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:20 p.m.

Minutes prepared by Mariela Tapia, Secretary of the Traffic Commission
V:\WP51\Mariela-Projects\Traffic Commission\minutes\2004\Minutes 3-10-04.doc
