AGENDA ITEMS:

1.“Residential Parking Permit” for Teasdale, Westview and Mapleview

At the September 14, 2005 meeting, the traffic commissioners reviewed the petition
from Ms. Joan Botwinick, for Residential Parking Permit system be implemented in
the 500 block of Mapleview, 500 block of Westview, and 8100 block of Teasdale
between the hours of 12 (noon) to 9:00 p.m. every day. The petition included the
signatures of at least 75% of the residents in the restricted area.

Ms. Botwinick explained that the residents want to protect the neighborhood from
excessive parking. With the expansion of Gay Field, which will now include night
games and the need for many more parking spaces, the residents expect that
people attending the games will be parking on the residential streets, and this may
make it difficult for them to get out of their driveways. There may also be many
more people going in and out of their cars during the game times which could make
driving more dangerous, especially at night. Since there is no provision for
additional parking on the school property in Phase I of the project, they expect that
there may be a lot more cars in the day and the evening parking in the
neighborhood.

Ms. Schafers informed Ms. Botwinick that residents who are having an occasional
gathering will have to abide by this policy. It is unlawful for any owner or operator
to park any vehicle on any street designated to be a residential parking permit area,
during the restricted hours, without having a current and lawful permit displayed.
The Police Department will provide the residents with a “resident” sticker for each
car that belongs to the household and 2 visitor tags.
This restriction shall not apply to corporations or individuals who are performing
commercial services, repairs, or emergency assistance for any resident living in the
specified area.

V:\WP51\Mariela-Projects\Traffic Commission\minutes\2005\Minutes 11-9-05.doc
