Olive

The City was requested to analyze the existing trees along the north side of Olive just
east of the intersection of Olive and Mount Olive. The concern is that when traveling
southbound that the trees are blocking view of traffic when turning on to Olive.

Since this request came forth; the City has implemented the following to improve the safety of
this intersection.
A.The City installed a no parking sign 25 feet along Mt. Olive until the intersection with

Olive. This should give drivers more room to see oncoming traffic and more area to
make there turns.

Commissioners Patterson, Hyman, and Ladner all went to this site and drove through this
intersection and thought that the trees do not obstruct traffic at this location.

The commissioners voted unanimously not to remove the street trees on the
north side of Olive just east of Mt. Olive.

3.Concerns regarding the safety of Washington University students crossing

Forest Park Parkway.

The commissioners reviewed the letter from Garry Earls, Acting Director of St. Louis
County Department of Highways and Traffic, to Honorable Kurt Odenwald, Chairman of
St. Louis County Council and agreed with Mr. Earls.

4.Approval of Minutes for July 13, 2006 meeting

The minutes were unanimously approved.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:30 p. m.

Minutes prepared by Eric Husman, Right of Way Manager

V:\WP51\Mariela-Projects\Traffic Commission\minutes\2006\Minutes 10-13-06.doc
