Page 4 - Minutes
May 10, 2006

Sergeant Kimbrough stated that crossing a double yellow line is allowed and
“u-turns” are also allowed. He will mail a copy of the ordinance to the
residents.

Ms. Tapia will ask the County to install “no parking signs” in front of hydrants
along Delmar.

The commissioners recommended that the Police patrol this area
regarding speeding and parking violations. The request for crosswalks
across Delmar, one at Geoffrey Lane and one at West Canterbury was
denied.

4.Stop sign on Amherst.

The commissioners received a traffic request from Karen Leinhauser, the resident at
7439 Amherst Ave. She is requesting that “no parking from here to corner” signs be
installed at the Amherst-Hanley intersection, that “slow children at play” signs be
installed along the 7400 block of Amherst and that a stop sign be located at the
intersection of Stanford and Amherst.

Ms. Tapia stated that the Public Works Department installed “no parking from here to
corner” signs at Amherst and Hanley intersection. The “slow children at play” signs will
be posted soon.

She also stated to the residents that a stop sign is appropriate only when a less
frequently traveled road intersects with a highly traveled road and when traffic crossing
this road creates a hazard and/or where a combination of high speed traffic, a restricted
view, and frequent accidents indicate the need for one or more stop signs. A stop sign
on Amherst at Stanford is not warranted.

Stan Fanlkner, resident at 7453 Amherst, requested a copy of the warrants for “stop
signs” to be installed.

Residents indicated that the 7400 block of Amherst is a cut thru street between Hanley
and Jackson for people that drive to Jackson school. People speed on the street and
the worst hours are between six and nine in the morning and three and seven in the
afternoon.

Ms. Lienhouser mentioned that because of police enforcement, motorists have lowered
their speed on the street. Sarah Koehler, resident at 7440 Amherst stated that she
would allow a police car to park in her driveway to monitor speed.

The Police Department advised that there have been no reported accidents within the
last 3 years at this intersection. Currently, there is a stop sign on Amherst at Jackson.

V:\WP51\Mariela-Projects\Traffic Commission\minutes\2006\Minutes 5-10-06.doc
