Page 3 - Minutes
May 10, 2006

The resident at 7600 Gannon mentioned that he is the least affected but he does not want
the situation on the street to change. He requested that the MOMO’s representative allow
enough space on the sidewalk for pedestrians to stroll.

A representative from the Chesed Shel Emeth House of Worship indicated that there is a
growth in the services provided and they don’t want the parking situation to change.

Charles Deutsch, Executive Director of the Torah Prep School, indicated that the parking
permit system may be a problem and they prefer no changes for the street.

Ms. Schafers indicated that the residents of the street should coordinate future parking
problems between themselves.

The commissioners recommended no changes in the 7600 block of Gannon Ave.

3.Traffic issues in the 8600 block of Delmar.

The traffic commissioners received traffic forms from Peter Neukirch, resident at 8674
Delmar 1-E. and R. J. Dick Lindsoe, resident at 8674 Delmar 1-W. They requested that
the police issue tickets to speeding drivers, to drivers that perform illegal u-turns and to
drivers that park improperly. In addition, Mr. Lindsoe requested for the Section
10.40.120-Parking prohibited in excess of five consecutive days, of the Municipal Code
be rewritten and strengthened.

Mr. Neukirch and Mr. Lindsoe were present to talk and submitted to the commissioners
a list of requests to improve safety on Delmar Boulevard between Interstate 170 and
Price Road. The list included:
?Enforcement of speed limits

?Enforcement of no u-turns

?Enforcement of parking zone codes (obstructing fire hydrants, parking on

sidewalks, parking within bus stops, commercial vehicle parking and obstruction
of public and private driveways)
?Delineation of parking spaces along Delmar

?Petition for 2 crosswalks across Delmar, one at Geoffrey Lane and one at West

Canterbury

Ms. Tapia stated that the County does not stripe parking spaces along County
maintained roadways. The County stated that they have limited resources
which do not allow them to perform this type of work effort. It is the
responsibility of drivers to park properly without the aid of striping.

Parking offenders are often neighborhood residents or friends of residents.
Residents should meet to discuss amongst themselves the importance of
conserving space for parallel parking along Delmar Boulevard.
V:\WP51\Mariela-Projects\Traffic Commission\minutes\2006\Minutes 5-10-06.doc
