Stop SiQn at the intersection of KinQsland Ave and WashinQton Dr.

There was no one present to discuss this request. Mr. Patterson called for the Public Works
Department's recommendation. Mrs. Gutierrez explained existing condition that currently there is a two-
way stop on Washington Ave, but Kingsland Traffic does not stop.

Sgt. King presented the accident report at this intersection and started looking for accidents that occurred
on 7-1-05 to the present. Here are the results:

On 12-9-05 Vehicle # 1 was northbound on Kingsland at Washington. Vehicle # 2 was
southbound. Vehicle # 2 slowed and began to turn left in front of Vehicle # 1. Vehicle # 1 took evasive
action by swerving slightly around Vehicle # 2's expected path. Vehicle # 1 skidded on slush and struck
Vehicle # 3 which was parked on the side of the road. Vehicle # 2 thus failed to yield. Vehicle # 1 may
have been driving too fast for conditions (slush on the road). Report 05-43015.

On 7-25-07 Vehicle # 1 was northbound on Kingsland at Washington. Vehicle # 1 had the right of
way since there are stop signs for Washington at Kingsland but not on Kingsland north and southbound.
Vehicle # 2 stopped for the stop sign on eastbound Washington but drove into the intersection in front of
Vehicle # 1. Vehicle # 1 hit Vehicle # 2. Report 07-26657.

On 2-11-08 Vehicle # 1 was southbound on Kingsland. Vehicle # 1 made a left turn in the
intersection with Washington, failing to yield to Vehicle # 2 which was northbound on Kingsland. Vehicle #
1 hit Vehicle # 2. Report 08-5719.

Mrs. Gutierrez explained that a four-way stop sign will be furnish and install if 5 or more right and left turns
collisions have occurred during the last 12 months. According with results provided by Sgt. King, a four
way stop is not necessary, but an intersection warning sign can be furnish and installed by the Public
Work Dpt.

The commissioners voted unanimously for this request to be denied and for the installation of the
intersection warning signs by the Public Works Opt. on Washington Dr.

Minutes - June 11, 2008
V:I WPSl IENGINEERING DIVISIONIPublic Works- Traffic Commissionlminutesl20081Minutes 6-11-08.doc

Page 3
