<br />6801 Delmar Boulevard, University City, MO 63130 <br />Phone: 314-862-6767, Fax: (314) 862-0694 <br /> <br /> <br />CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY <br />MINUTES OF THE TRAFFIC COMMISSION <br />April 14, 2010 <br /> <br />Stefany Brot called the meeting to order at 6:40 p.m. The members present were: <br /> <br /> Catherine Nichols <br /> <br /> Paulette Smith <br /> <br /> Greg Paterson <br /> <br /> Hyla Bondareff <br /> <br /> Arthur Sharpe Jr., Council Liaison <br /> <br /> Angelica Gutierrez, Public Works Representatives <br /> <br /> Shaun Margul, Police Department Representative <br /> <br />Also present were: <br /> <br /> <br /> William Wegener, resident at 7545 Shaftesbury Ave. <br /> <br /> Susan Terrill, resident at 6675 Kingsbury Blvd <br /> <br /> Kathy Freese, resident at 6669 Kingsbury Blvd <br /> <br /> <br />Traffic calming on the alley at the 6600 block, south of Washington Ave north of <br />1. <br />Kingsbury Blvd. <br /> <br /> <br />Ms. Gutierrez explained that Ms. Susan Terrill, resident at 6675 Kingsbury Blvd., requested the <br />following: <br /> <br />a) Installing Speed Limit signs for the alley <br />b) Monitoring speeds in the alley and issue violations if required <br />c) For the access to the 520 Kingsland Ave. building parking area to be a one way instead of <br />a two way access. <br /> <br />The speed limit on Alleys is 15 mph according to our City municipal code. Officer Margul provided <br />speed data collected in the area between March 31, 2010 and April 9, 2010 and stated that cars <br />drive between 0-30mph mostly in the morning hours, and that during the time the speed radar was <br />out, no summons were issued. <br /> <br />Regarding 520 Kingsland Ave. building parking area, Ms. Brot referenced to the letter sent by Ms. <br />Cheryl Adelstein, Director of Community Relations and Local Government Affairs and read out <br />loud the following: <br /> <br />“For the record, we believe the proposed traffic flow will increase traffic in the alley. <br />Two buildings, 6678 Washington Ave. and 520 Kingsland Ave., shared the parking lot <br />that is accessed from Kingsland. If residents can only access the parking lot from the <br />alley, up to eighteen (18) more vehicles will be using the alley for access, adding to <br />rather than calming the traffic.” <br /> <br />“We apologize that a staff member from Washington University is unable to be present this <br />evening.” <br /> <br />Ms. Bondareff read out loud the following: <br /> <br />Traffic Commission Minutes – April 14, 2010 Page 1 <br /> <br />
