Ms. Gutierrez explained that “Slow Children Playing” or similar type of signs should not be used. <br />The sign gives a false sense of security to children and parents. The City’s standards do not <br />recognize this as a standard sign. <br /> <br />Mr. Feder explained that his request was originated by a recent incident where a speeding truck <br />ended the neighbor’s dog’s life. <br /> <br />Commissioner Bondareff explained that speed bumps are not allowed to be installed on public <br />streets, as they may damage emergency vehicles. <br /> <br />Commissioner Bondareff also explained that Public Work recommends the installation of speed <br />limit signs indicating the 25 mph restriction one at Groby Rd and one at Blackberry Ave. Also, <br />additional police monitoring with enforcement could be an effective deterrent. <br /> <br />Officer Margul provided speed data from Mulberry Lane, stating that speed trailer was on Mulberry <br />from 5/27/2010 to 6/05/2010, and at the 25 mph, 4343 vehicles traveled north and south bound. <br /> <br />Percentage of Vehicles Speed <br />76% 0-15 <br />23% 16-25 <br />0.9% or 39 vehicles 26-30 <br /> <br />Commissioner Brot moved a motion to install two 25 mph speed limit signs on both entrances of <br />Mulberry Lane. She also requested that Public Works investigate creating a new pedestrian <br />crossing from the park crossing to Mulberry Lane and asked for additional police monitoring and <br />enforcement. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Bondareff and approved with two ayes <br />and one nay. <br /> <br />3. Request to install a stop sign on Teasdale Ave, at Central Ave. <br /> <br />Commissioner Bondareff explained request submitted by Ms. Clare Brady, resident at 515 N. <br />Central Ave., requesting a stop sign to be installed on Teasdale Ave at Central Ave. <br /> <br />Commissioner Bondareff also explained that Public Works recommends installing a stop sign at <br />the requested location due to the geometry of the intersection. <br /> <br />Commissioner Smith moved the motion to install a stop sign on Teasdale Ave at Central Ave. The <br />motion was seconded by Commissioner Brot and unanimously approved. <br /> <br /> <br />Approval of Minutes April 14, 2010 <br />4. <br /> <br />Minutes from April 14, 2010 meeting were unanimously approved <br /> <br /> <br />The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 p.m. <br />Minutes prepared by Angelica Gutierrez, Public Works Liaison <br /> <br />Traffic Commission Minutes – June 9, 2010 Page 3 <br />
