<br />Mr. David Usher, 1381 Mirandy Dr <br />Mr. Usher was involved In Missouri Politics Family Law for many years. He said this <br />bill would be a passage of a social policy was not on tolerance or equality. Mr. Usher <br />spoke on the advantages of getting married and spoke on the need to push marriage <br />rather than co-habitation. <br /> <br />Marian Sharpe, 7131 Willow Tree Lane <br />Ms. Sharpe stated this bill should never have been introduced in the United States. <br />She stated that the Creator’s constitution is the Higher Law and man-made <br />constitutions will be called the Lesser Law. Ms. Sharpe noted that right doing is <br />defined by God not by this Council. She said higher law defines the partnership of a <br />man and a woman as marriage. Ms. Sharpe said she cannot support what God says <br />is wrong. She noted this bill self serves a few at the expense of the many. <br /> <br />Edward McCarthy, 7101 Princeton <br />Mr. McCarthy commented on section f which goes through the extent of dissolving a <br />domestic partnership and then under f1a which says a domestic partnership will <br />terminate and he recommends it be amended to a domestic partnership ends when <br />one of the partners dies, or marries or enters into a civil union or registered domestic <br />partnership with someone other than the one previously registered. He <br />recommended anyone signing up that they read section 3 about the reciprocity and <br />also in section 3 which states that if anyone violates anything in this section there are <br />penalties and fines and jail time. <br /> <br />Joan Schneider, 7580 Drexel Dr <br />Ms. Schneider spoke in support of the Defense of Marriage Act that states marriage <br />is between a man and a woman. She stated the U City does not want to be the first <br />one to legislate sin. Ms. Schneider quoted passages from the Bible to support her <br />statement against domestic partnerships. <br /> <br />Stephanie Ruback, 1226 Blockstone St <br />Ms. Ruback spoke against Bill 9114 stating that the Domestic Partnership Bill would <br />further deteriorate the black family. She said this was not a Civil Rights issue. Ms. <br />Ruback stated she is a nurse they have never turned away any visitors at the <br />hospital. <br /> <br />Ms. Jeannette Sanchez, 1200 Pennsylvania <br />Ms. Sanchez spoke in favor of this bill noting they moved here because of the <br />acceptance of diversity. She said this bill helps in the validation of their relationship. <br /> <br />David Martineau, 7322 Drexel Dr. <br />Mr. Martineau said this bill sends a message of welcome and inclusion and that was <br />why they moved to this region. <br /> <br />Arlene Zarembka and Zuleyma Tang Martinez, 7500 Trenton Ave. <br />Ms. Zarembka stated that this bill was a small step in partnerships achieving equal <br />rights in this society. <br /> <br />Ms. Martinez noted she was proud to be a minority and worked hard in the Civil <br />Rights movement. She spoke on their dedication and support to their families and <br /> <br /> <br />
