Session 1706, Minutes
September 22, 1997

Mr. Lieberman asked that the matter be referred to the Park Commission for review.
Mayor Adams said that he believes that the Park Commission is looking at these kind of
issues, since they were the ones that established the principle. He does not believe that
they are looking at having or not having i.d. cards, however.

5

Shari LeKane-Yentumi, 6939 Dartmouth, said that her children are attending Delmar-
Harvard School. It is undergoing a tremendous amount of construction. She is working
with the tax levy committee to review the funds that they are trying to get for the
district. It has taken a course of three years to come up with $25,000 toward the
playground fund. The estimates that they have received is around $40,000 to $70,000 to
put in the kind of equipment that would facilitate, not only the gross motor development
and the safety features they need, but also to add the green space that serves the
community. They would also like to make Delmar Harvard school the crown of the jewel
in the Loop, just like the City Hall is. They are recipients of grants through the Kaufman
and Danforth Foundation and many others. She talked about this with the City Manager
and he has asked her to put it in writing, which they are doing. Before it was delivered,
she thought she would make a personal appeal to consider a donation.

MOTION CORRECTION FROM THE SEPTEMBER 8, 1997 MEETING:

Mayor Adams said that at the last meeting dealing with the site plan for 501-515 North &
South, he had made an inappropriate ruling, under Robert's Rules.
