6. Open Discussion for Committee Members -

a.Donna informed the members that she hopes to get the ordinance creating the “Green
Practices Commission” through the City Council in July or August, probably in
August because the Council agenda has been pretty full for the last few months to
make progress on approving the City budget. All members need to complete a new
application (available on the city website or it can be requested from Joyce Pumm,
the City Clerk), and will be required to resign from the committee and re-apply.

b.Tim Michels asked for feedback on the draft “Ordinance adopting an energy
efficiency, renewable energy and greenhouse gas reduction policy” distributed in the
April meeting.

c.Donna announced that Parkview Gardens is in the middle of a meeting on
“Sustainable Neighborhoods” tonight at the Library – it started at 7 PM.

NEXT MEETING is July 13.

Donna asked the Kirkwood visitors if they had questions:

A.How do we deal with recycling/waste, etc.? Donna explained that these policies are set
by the City, not the Committee.

B.Does U City use/suggest compostable food containers? No

C.Suggestion: set a “goal” when the Greenhouse Gas Inventory is presented to the City
Council.

7/7/2011 8:26 AM
