<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Regular Meeting of the Park Commission <br />City of University City <br />May 24, 2011 <br />Centennial Commons, 7210 Olive Blvd. <br /> <br />Please Note: Due to lack of quorum for June 28, 2011 meeting, these minutes have not been approved. <br /> <br />President John Sweeney called the meeting to order at 6:32 pm. Other members present were: <br />Karen Dille (arrived at 6:35 pm) Ewald Winker, Interim Director <br />William Field Lynda Euell-Taylor, Recreation Superintendent <br />Karen Palmer Lynn Ricci, Council Liaison <br />Linda Peoples <br />Caryn St. Clair <br /> <br />Excused Absence: Gwendolyn Gaines-Beckwith <br />Disposition of Minutes from April 26, 2011 <br />Minutes reviewed. Ms. Peoples moved to approve minutes, Ms. St. Clair seconded. Vote taken: all approved. <br />Citizen’s comments on items not on Agenda <br /> <br />Ms. Elsie Glickert, 6712 Etzel express her displeasure with the removal of Ackert Park archway and proposed <br />installation of statue honoring musician Chuck Berry. <br />Ms. Jen Jensen, 706 Pennsylvania agrees with Ms. Glickert and indicated anything regarding park issues <br />should come before the Park Commission for review and recommends construction should be stopped until it <br />comes before Park Commission and/or City Council. <br />Ms. Peoples moved to recommend meeting format be changed with the Council Liaison Report following the <br />Department Report. Ms. St. Clair seconded. Vote taken: all approved. <br />Department Report <br /> <br />Mr. Winker reported on the following: <br /> <br /> Heman Pool has been filled and ready for opening day – Saturday, May 28 <br /> <br /> 2011-12 department budget has been presented to City Council <br /> <br /> Met with The design Group SWT, Flynn School Principal, and School construction team regarding <br />Flynn Playground kick off meeting <br /> <br /> Moving forward with the Mooney Park playground renovation; LWCF Grant Match funds are <br />appropriated in the 2011-12 budget and will be available July 1 <br /> <br /> Cancellation of bike trail grant <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
