<br />Park Commission Minutes – 52411, pg. 3 <br />Individual Park Reports <br /> <br />John Sweeney – Adams, Flynn and Lewis Parks: look good. <br /> <br />Linda Peoples – Fogerty Park: looks fine; Greensfelder Park: needs woodchips. <br /> <br />Karen Palmer – Kaufman Park: picked up trash around refuse cans. <br /> <br />Caryn St. Clair – none <br /> <br />William Field – Metcalfe and Ackert Parks: look good. Ruth Park Golf Course – looks good with the exception <br />of hole #8. <br /> <br />Karen Dille – none <br /> <br />Unfinished Business – <br />none <br /> <br />New Business <br />Mr. Winker presented the following staff recommendations: <br />Ms. Palmer moved to support the Traffic Commission recommendation to amend University City Municipal <br />Code to prohibit on-street parking on the west side of Melville Ave. between Kingsbury Ave. and Delmar Blvd., <br />and, to allow parking perpendicular to the direction of traffic on the south side of Loop South between Melville <br />Ave. and Leland Ave. Ms. Dille seconded the motion. Vote taken: two in favor (Field, Palmer), three opposed <br />(Dille, Peoples, St. Clair). Motion failed. <br />Ms. St. Clair moved to grant Ameren Union Electric Missouri a utility easement on a fifteen (15) foot wide by <br />seventy-five (75) foot long strip of land at the north/east corner of Flynn Park upon the review and approval of <br />the City attorney. Ms. Peoples seconded the motion. Vote taken: all in favor. Motion passed. <br />Mr. Field moved to grant Metropolitan Sewer District an easement to service the proposed 5068.9 sq. ft. bio- <br />retention area just west of the tennis courts in Flynn Park. The retention area is being sized to accommodate <br />the storm water runoff from the school addition as well as the proposed new park playground in Heman Park. <br />Prior Park Director Ms. Nancy MacCartney made a verbal commitment to the University City School District in <br />June of 2010 that the City of University City would allow for the retention area to be built on park land. Ms. <br />Dille seconded the motion. Vote taken: four in favor (Dille, Field, Palmer, St. Clair) and one abstention <br />(Peoples). Motion passed. <br />Ms. Dille moved to enter into the maintenance agreement of the proposed bio-retention area in Flynn Park with <br />Metropolitan Sewer District. The retention area is required for storm water runoff from the new addition at <br />Flynn Park School; but earlier agreed upon that it would be constructed on City Park land. Ms. St. Clair <br />seconded the motion. Vote taken: three in favor (Dille, Palmer, St. Clair) and two abstentions (Field, Peoples). <br />Motion passed. <br /> <br />Ms. Peoples moved to adjourn.
