Session 1755 <br />May 10, 1999 <br /> <br />The proposal was denied. It was reported that the Library will no longer conduct the <br />Memorial Day Race. No other group has stepped in to fill this gap at this point. The Park <br />Commission does feel that the races are important and that they should be continued. The <br />golf course has had 258 courtesy passes used just in the month of March of this year and <br />over 1800 were used during the 1998-1999 fiscal year. The City Clerk is preparing <br />recommendations. for the use of courtesy passes as a policy item for the future. <br /> <br />Mr. Schoomer, Li.~ison for Arts and Letters and Historic Preservation, reported that none of <br />his boards and ccmmissions had met. He would like to remind everyone that the <br />dedication for the new stars in the Loop will occur on Sunday, May 16th. <br /> <br />Mr. Sharpe, Liais(~n for Traffic Commission, reported that there were two items, one dealing <br />with the barrier at Wellington and Purdue and the other dealing with the barrier at <br />Wellington and Waldron. There were many residents present discussing whether or not <br />these barriers shodld be removed. The residents were overwhelmingly in favor of leaving <br />the barrier in place at Purdue. The Waldron barrier was somewhat of a toss up. There was <br />some discussion ¢,f a stop sign on Jackson and none of these issues have been resolved. <br />They should be resolved at the next meeting. <br /> <br />Ms. Colquitt, Liason for CALOP and Pension Boards, reported that she did not make the <br />Pension Board meeting and that CALOP had not met. <br /> <br />Mayor Adams, Liason for IDA, TIF and LCRA, reported that none had met. Mayor Adams <br />said that the MMI had met and that this was the last week for the legislature to be in <br />session. There arE: many interesting legislative issues, which may have been decided on <br />today. <br /> <br />LEADERSHIP ST. LOUIS - GREGORY ROSE: <br /> <br />Mayor Adams wished to honor Gregory Rose, the Assistant City Manager, whom was just <br />selected to be in the next year's Leadership St. Louis class. He will have an enormous <br />experience. It is g,'eat honor, not only to Mr. Rose, but also to the City of University City. <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER'S REPORTS: <br /> <br />AGENDA #1 - CONSENT CALENDAR (6 ITEMS): <br /> <br />#1 - Street Repair Stone Materials: Bids for furnishing limestone macadam, trap rock <br />and gravel for the Park Maintenance and Street Divisions have been received.
