That the title of the Commission be amended to read "The Municipal <br />Commission on Arts and Letters". <br />2. In Section 1 the term "landscape architecture" be deleted, and the <br />word "and" inserted between the words "literature" and "architecture". <br />Also, in Section 1, after the word "artistic" the word "and" be deleted, <br />and after the word "cultural" the words "and scholarly" be inserted. After <br />the word "development" the word "o£" be deleted and the word "%,.Tithin" be sub- <br />stituted. <br />3. The terms of office be amended so that Section 2 will read as follows: <br />Section 2. Two of the Commissioners who are appointed with terms <br />commencing January 2, 1975, shall be designated to serve for terms <br />of one year, two of the Commissioners with terms commencing January 2, <br />1975, shall be designated to serve terms of 2 years; two of the Com- <br />missioners who are appointed with terms commencing January 2, 1975, <br />shall be designated to serve for terms of 3 years, and the remaining <br />three Commissioners who are appointed with terms conwiencing January 2, <br />1975, shall be designated to serve for terms of 4 years, respectively, <br />from the date of their appointment, but thereafter Commissioners shall <br />be appointed as aforesaid for a term of office of 4 years except that <br />all vacancies shall be filled for the unexpired term. A Commissioner <br />shall hold office until his successor has been appointed, confirmed and <br />has qualified. <br />4. The following is to be added to Section 5: <br />The Commission may also recognize scholarly works in any field, be <br />it art, science, education, medicine, business, etc., in ways appropriate <br />to the contribution. of the work to its field and the standing of the <br />creator in the community, providing such recognition is consistent with <br />the powers and duties of the Commission as spelled out herein. <br />Notion was seconded by Councilman Ferner and unanimously carried. <br />Bill No. 7036 As Amended was given its second reading. <br />Continued, next page <br />
