SESSION 1120 <br />ILII UTES OF `Tai's U14IVEiISITY CITY COUNCIL <br />December 15, 1975 <br />At a regular meeting of the University City Council held in the Assembly <br />Room of the City Ball on Monday, December 15, 1975, Mayor Nathan B. Kaufman <br />presided and called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.Ii. In addition to the <br />Mayor, the following members of the Council were present: <br />Mr. Lawrence Lieberman <br />Mr. Joseph Lee Adams, Jr. <br />Mr. Charles A. Werner <br />I4r. Ii. Badley Grimm <br />Mr. J. T. Weissenburger <br />Mrs. Elsie Glickert <br />Also present were Acting City :Manager Victor A. Ellman, and Gregory Sheehan, <br />Acting City Attorney. <br />;MINUTES: <br />The minutes of the Council meeting held on December 8, 1975 were not ready <br />for submission. <br />COM11UNICATIONS: <br />FIRE AND POLICE PROTECTION: <br />Upon inquiry by Idayor Kaufman whether any communications had been received, <br />the City Clerk called attention to a 11ailgram received today, addressed to <br />Mayor Kaufman, from Mr. J. Larry Harwell, 6914 Kingsbury, opposing any pro- <br />posal to reduce Fire and Police protection. Copies had been placed on the <br />desks of the members of the Council. <br />APPOINT2IENT - AR. RALPIi L. SI ITH - PARI: COMMISSION: <br />Councilman Glickert moved the appointment of iir. Ralph L. Smith, 7420 Zlayne <br />Avenue, as a member of the Park Commission for a term expiring January 21, <br />1978, replacing Mrs. Carol Rossel, whose term on the Park Commission has ex- <br />pired. Motion was seconded by Councilman Grimm and unanimously carried. <br />NOTE OF APPRECIATION - IRtS. C&IOL ROSSEL: <br />Councilman Glickert moved that on behalf of the Council an appropriate note <br />of appreciation be transmitted to Firs. Carol i,ossel for her outstanding ser- <br />vice as a member of the Park Commission, thanking her for the time and effort <br />she devoted. Motion was seconded by Councilman Grimm and unanimously carried. <br />APPOINTMENT OF VICTOR A. ELLIIA l AS CITY MANAGER: <br />Mayor Kaufman read a letter which he had received today from Chancellor <br />William 11. Danforth of Washington University stating that he understands <br />that Mr. Victor A. Ellman is to be sworn in tonight as City 11anager of <br />University City. He expressed high regard for Iir. Ellman and commended the <br />Council on its choice. A copy of the letter is attached hereto and made a <br />part of the record. <br />Continued, next page <br />
