SESSION 1265 <br />MINUTES OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY COUNCIL <br />December 22, 1980 <br />At a regular meeting of the. City Council of University City, held in the Assembly <br />Room of the City Hall on Monday, December 22, 1980, Mayor Joseph W. Mooney presided <br />and called the meeting to order at 7:33 P.M. In addition to the Mayor, the follow- <br />ing members of the Council were present: <br />Mr. Lawrence Lieberman <br />Mr. Joseph L. Adams, Jr. <br />Mrs. Cynthia Metcalfe <br />Mr. Patrick J. Kelley <br />Mr. Allen Sabol <br />Mrs. Betty L. Thompson <br />Also present were City Manager Frank 011endorff and City Attorney Dennis Kay. <br />MINUTES <br />November 17, 1980 <br />Mr. Adams moved that the Minutes of November 17, 1980, be accepted as read. Mr. <br />Sabol seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. <br />December 8, 1980 <br />The minutes of December 8, 1980 were not ready for approval. <br />COMMUNICATION <br />Mayor Mooney said a letter had been received from the National League of Cities, <br />specifically thanking Councilmember Lieberman for his dedicated work as a member <br />of the Steering Committee of that organization. Mayor Mooney said he and the Coun- <br />cil were also grateful for the fine work Mr. Lieberman and other councilmembers do <br />in many capacities. <br />OATH OF OFFICE <br />Mr. Douglas King, 6841 Crest, recently appointed to the Commission on Human Rela- <br />tions, was sworn in by the City Clerk. Mr. Lieberman noted that Mr. King has pre- <br />viously served on the University City School Board, is a very responsible and dedi- <br />cated citizen, and will make a remarkable contribution to the Commission on Human <br />Relations. <br />CITY MANAGER'S REPORTS <br />MARKET IN THE LOOP PROPERTY PURCHASE <br />The City Manager recommended approval of the proposal by the Land Clearance for Re- <br />development Authority to purchase the urban renewal land on which the Market in the <br />Loop is located for $7,400, which is substantially less than the estimated value <br />
