SESSION 1265 MINUTES OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY COUNCIL December 22, 1980 At a regular meeting of the. City Council of University City, held in the Assembly Room of the City Hall on Monday, December 22, 1980, Mayor Joseph W. Mooney presided and called the meeting to order at 7:33 P.M. In addition to the Mayor, the follow- ing members of the Council were present: Mr. Lawrence Lieberman Mr. Joseph L. Adams, Jr. Mrs. Cynthia Metcalfe Mr. Patrick J. Kelley Mr. Allen Sabol Mrs. Betty L. Thompson Also present were City Manager Frank 011endorff and City Attorney Dennis Kay. MINUTES November 17, 1980 Mr. Adams moved that the Minutes of November 17, 1980, be accepted as read. Mr. Sabol seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. December 8, 1980 The minutes of December 8, 1980 were not ready for approval. COMMUNICATION Mayor Mooney said a letter had been received from the National League of Cities, specifically thanking Councilmember Lieberman for his dedicated work as a member of the Steering Committee of that organization. Mayor Mooney said he and the Coun- cil were also grateful for the fine work Mr. Lieberman and other councilmembers do in many capacities. OATH OF OFFICE Mr. Douglas King, 6841 Crest, recently appointed to the Commission on Human Rela- tions, was sworn in by the City Clerk. Mr. Lieberman noted that Mr. King has pre- viously served on the University City School Board, is a very responsible and dedi- cated citizen, and will make a remarkable contribution to the Commission on Human Relations. CITY MANAGER'S REPORTS MARKET IN THE LOOP PROPERTY PURCHASE The City Manager recommended approval of the proposal by the Land Clearance for Re- development Authority to purchase the urban renewal land on which the Market in the Loop is located for $7,400, which is substantially less than the estimated value
