SESSION 1244 <br />MINUTES OF THE UNIVERSITY CITY COUNCIL <br />May 12, 1980 <br />At a regular meeting of the City Council of University City, held in the Assembly <br />Room of the City Hall on Monday, May 12, 1980, Mayor Joseph W. Mooney presided and <br />called the meeting to order at 7:31 P.M. In addition to the Mayor, the following <br />members of the Council were present: <br />Mr. Lawrence Lieberman <br />Mr. Joseph L. Adams, Jr. <br />Mr. Allen Sabol <br />Mrs. Betty L. Thompson <br />Also present were City Manager Frank G. 011endorff and City Attorney Dennis F. Kay. <br />Councilmember Metcalfe arrived at the meeting at 7:35 P.M., and Councilmember Kel- <br />ley arrived at 7:36 P.M. <br />MINUTES <br />Councilmember Lieberman noted that a correction should be made to the minutes of <br />April 28, 1980, at the top of Page 2, first paragraph. It should say that Mr. <br />Lieberman served as ex -officio member of the Plan Commission for six years, rather <br />than two years. Councilmember Sabol moved that correction, with Councilmember <br />Thompson seconding the motion. The motion carried unanimously. <br />Councilmember Lieberman moved that the minutes of April 28, 1980, be approved as <br />corrected. Councilmember Adams seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. <br />APPOINTMENTS <br />Councilmember Lieberman moved that Mr: Wallace Dennis, 7018 Dover Court, be ap- <br />pointed to the Municipal Commission on Arts and Letters for a term expiring Jan- <br />uary 2, 1984, replacing Mr. Robert Smith, whose term has expired. Councilmember <br />Sabol seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br />Councilmember Metcalfe moved that Mr. Henry Luepke, 7207 Westmoreland, be reap- <br />pointed to the Civil Service Board, for a term expiring April 7, 1983. Council - <br />member Sabol seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. <br />Mayor Mooney moved that Ms Jane Miller, 7252 Northmoor, be appointed to the Li- <br />brary Board for a term expiring June 30, 1982, replacing Mr. Malcolm Jackoway, <br />who has resigned. Councilmember Adams seconded the motion, which carried unani- <br />mously. <br />BOARDS AND -COMMISSIONS ---GENERAL DISCUSSION <br />Councilmember Thompson noted that there does not seem to be equal representation <br />from each ward on the various boards and commissions, and as.a new-councilmember, <br />she requested an explanation of the appointing system.. A generaldiscussion fol- <br />lowed in which the method of selecting members for,the boards and.:commissions was <br />explained, with several councilmembers taking part.
