It was brought out that each <br />councilmember does not always nominate someone from his own ward to a vacancy, <br />which could account for the slight discrepancy in numbers. Also, several of the <br />boards (such as the Board of Adjustment) have stringent requirements, because of <br />the skills required, and it is necessary to appoint people who fill the qualifica- <br />tions required, regardless of where they live. <br />CITY.MANAGER'S REPORTS <br />CONSENT CALENDAR(FOURITEMS) <br />Councilmember Sabol asked that Item No 3 be removed from the Consent Calendar. <br />It was so ordered by Mayor Mooney. <br />CONSIDERATION OF BIDS FOR SNOW AND 10E CONTROL SALT <br />Bids for snow removal and ice control salt for the winter season 1980-81 have been <br />received from five companies, as follows: <br />Domtar Industries, Inc. $ 19.83/ton <br />International Salt Co. 21.00/ton <br />Cargill, Inc. 21.42/ton <br />Morton Salt Division 22.69/ton <br />Diamond Crystal Salt 24.97/ton <br />The administrative forces recommend that the contract be awarded to Domtar Indus- <br />tries, Inc. in the amount of $19.83 per ton or a total of $29,745. <br />University City will use approximately 700 tons ($13,881) of the 1500 ton barge <br />load. Purchase orders have been received from the cities of Maplewood and Man- <br />chester who will be sharing.the remainder of the salt received. These cities will <br />be invoiced for their respective portions upon delivery. <br />SELECTION OF AUDITOR FOR -FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30, 1980 (#2) <br />The City has received a proposal of $7,500 from Ernst and Whinney to examine the <br />financial statementsof the City for the year ending June 30, 1980. <br />CONSIDERATION�OF-BIDS--ON BUS SERVICE (A) <br />The City solicited bids from eleven area bus companies for the furnishing of bus <br />service for the annual summer parks and pool program, with the following response: <br />Cost per hour- Minimum Charge <br />Rustman Bus Company $ 15.50 $ 45.00 <br />Rustman Bus Company has submitted a bid totalling approximately $7,200, depending <br />on the "ftact number of buses needed, the number of hours used, and any cancella- <br />tions. The administrative forces recommend that the award be given to Rustman <br />Bus Company. <br />
