Session 1239, Minutes <br />March 10, 1980 <br />Page 3 <br />Councilman Metcalfe questioned Mr. Al Goldman, Director of Planning, about a <br />building violation having.to do with rear stairwell -entry doors, and Mr'. Goldman <br />said even though the company has until March 31 to correct this, the Council may <br />approve the application now, since an occupancy permit will not be issued unless <br />the violation is corrected. Councilman Metcalfe moved that the application be <br />approved. <br />Councilman Sabol questioned Mr. Gidlow. Mr. Gidlow said he bought the property <br />six months ago, and that nearly all the renovation work was complete. He said the <br />selling price would be in the mid -$50,000 range. <br />Councilman Glickert seconded Mrs. Metcalfe's motion. All voted Aye, except Coun- <br />cilman Sabol, who voted Nay. <br />CONSIDERATION OF CONDOMINIUM CONVERSION - 7321 PERSHING <br />The City Manager said Mr. Jay Reiter, 7438 Forsyth, a partner in Renaissance Enter- <br />prises, submitted an application for conversion of a four -family apartment at 7321 <br />Pershing, to a condominium. The application is in compliance with the requirements <br />of Ordinance No. 5190. <br />Councilman Lieberman moved approval, with Councilman Metcalfe seconding the motion. <br />In response to questions from Councilman Sabol, Mr. Reiter said his firm had helped <br />former tenants, to some extent, to relocate, and in all cases had given them more <br />than the 90 days notice of intention to convert, as required by ordinance. <br />The motion carried, with all voting Aye except Councilman Sabol, who voted Nay. <br />Councilman Glickert asked about the selling price, and Mr. Reiter said a totally <br />renovated apartment would sell for about $55,000 and one in which the kitchen is <br />not completely refurbished would be about $46,000. <br />RECESS <br />Mayor Mooney called for a recess at 7:55 P.M. so that those present could meet and <br />chat with the new City Manager, Mr. Frank G. 011endorff. The Council meeting re- <br />sumed at 8:35 P.M. <br />GUESTS AT MEETING <br />The Mayor said there were a number of distinguished guests in the audience which he <br />would not try to name for fearofeliminating some, but he did ask Mr. Lou. Brock, <br />formerly with the St.. Louis Baseball..Cardinals, to stand and_b.e..rec.ognized. There <br />was a round of applause. <br />JOINT SCHOOL BOARD --CITY COUNCIL ZOMMIT.TEE:.ON GROSSING GUARDS <br />Councilman Kelley announced that the Joint School Board --City Council Committee on <br />Crossing. Guards, which was formed to try to find a cooperative solution to the <br />crossing .guard .staffin.g .problem, -.will._hold .a ..public ,hearing, in the EOC Room of City <br />Hall on Saturday,,March 22, at .9:30 .A_M. _Other committee members are Councilman <br />Adams, Mr. John Wright, president of the School Board, and Mr. Melvin Hines, prin- <br />cipal of University Forest School. Comments, suggestions and ideas from any citi- <br />zen will be welcome at that time. <br />
