YOUNG
Mayor Mooney read a resolution honoring Mr. Paul H. Young for his many valuable con-
tributions to University City, which included being a member of the original Charter
Commission in 1946. The resolution noted that Mr. Young has had a profound influ-
ence in the development and success of University City as a viable community and
that the City is very grateful for his labors on behalf of the City. The Council
and audience applauded Mr. Young.
Mr. Young said, as a resident of University City for 55 years, he has enjoyed living.,
here very much, and knowing and working with many of the outstanding citizens who
were and are devoted to the interests of University City. He thanked the Mayor, the
Council and the City Manager for the time they spend on City affairs and for their
dedication to the betterment of University City.
It was noted by former Mayor Kaufman that Mr. Young's wife, Mrs. Louis Young, has
also been a very active participant in community affairs, and has made major contri-
butions to university City.
MINUTES
Councilman Glickert said there was an omission on page 5 of the December 17, 1979
minutes under HEALTH AND MEDICAL INSURANCE POLICY. On line eight under that heading
the words "of Uniformed Employees Pension Plan'should be inserted so that the sen-
tence reads as follows: "Also, the Board of the Uniformed Employees Pension Plan
moved unanimously that prospective early retirees be permitted to remain in the
group health and medical insurance plan of the City until qualified for Medicare."
She so moved. Councilman Sabol seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. Mr.
Ellman clarified the situation further by stating that each Board of Trustees (Non -
uniformed and Uniformed) had made a recommendation, and that those two recommenda-
tions apply to all employees, uniformed and non -uniformed.
Councilman Metcalfe said there was a section of the tape of the same minutes which
she wished to listen to, since she felt there may be an error concerning something
she said. Mayor Mooney said approval of the minutes will be delayed until Mrs. Met-
calfe has an opportunity to listen to the tape.
