Session 1480, Minutes Page 10
November 7, 1988
The second item to be discussed had to do with residential door locks, how-
ever, it was decided to discuss this matter at the next Council meeting, on
November 21st. The Mayor asked Mr. 011endorff to send Council information on
this subject prior to the meeting.
Mr. Adams said he did not see the necessity of sending the Consent Calendar to
council a day or two earlier than eourr-iluembers received their weekly packet
on Fridays. There was brief discussion, with several councilmen errs agreeing
that they would rather receive all information pertaining to the upcoming
Council meeting at one time. It was decided that this matter will be put on
the agenda of the November 21st meeting for discussion.
Mayor Majerus noted that the City Clerk had brought to her attention that the
City Charter may be amended by Council decision, and that there were some
housekeeping items connected with election schedules that should be changed to
bring them into conformance with state law. The Mayor said the City Clerk
will draw up a list of items that needed to be corrected and submit them to
Council for consideration. Mr. Adams suggested that perhaps it might be de-
sirable to remove from the Charter scene of the items that are changed fre-
quently by state law, and instead include them in the Municipal Code's chapter
on elections. Formation of a Charter Commission to consider other amendments
to the Charter was discussed, and it was decided that a commission will be
formed in about a year.
Mrs. Schuman said the council will be receiving invitations to attend the Ebc-
eellence in Education award ceremony at Flynn Park School on December 1st with
the Undersecretary of Education in attendance. She encouraged all present to
attend this event, which is a great honor for the school district.
Mayor Majerus adjourned the meeting at 9:20 p.m.
Dolores A.
