Mr. Halpert – This does not seem like a very efficient option.
Mr. Lai – This is similar to the 2005 plan.
Mr. Lai summarized the three options. The staff recommendation is for Option 1. It is less labor
intensive. It includes some members of the community that are not on the Plan Commission. It
will not take as much time as Option 2.
Questions/Comments
-Options 1 and 2 will get more people involved and will require a commitment from more
people.
-How will non Plan Commission members be appointed to the advisory committee?
Mr. Lai – They are Council appointees.
Mr. Halpert – Option 2 is the best way to go, mostly because of numbers. It sounds like there
will be about 20 members to divide up the work.
Mayor Welsch – Option 2 will provide a more detailed Comprehensive Plan. Research that sub-
committees carry out can be added to the plan. Although it may take more time, it will result in a
more detailed Comprehensive Plan.
Ms. Riganti – The reason for option 1 is that we have some committees already established
throughout city such as Green Practices, Bike and Walk, Senior/Youth, etc. They can be
represented in the process. We do not want to recreate any work that has been done.
Ms. Riganti thanked all in attendance for their input. The results of the survey and a
recommendation will be sent to Plan Commission members and City Council members as soon
as possible.
The meeting adjourned at 6:55 pm.
tm; šE
