Session 1757 - Budget Meeting
May 17, 1999

35.50 AQUATICS:

Mr. Ollendorff directed Council to 742.10 Institutional Equipment where there is two big
items budgeted. One is to replace the main drain line for $52,000 and the second one is to
refiberglass the pool basin for $48,000. The fiberglassing has to be done every seven to
eight years and it is now due. The main drain line is as old as the pool, which means sixty
some odd years old. Responding to Mr. Schoomer, Mr. Ollendorff said that this will not
stop all the water leaks. Mayor Adams says that the City needs to seriously consider
replacing the pool. Responding to Mr. Munkel, Mr. Ollendorff said that the fiberglassing
was a bid that was received a year ago and the costs for replacing the main drain was an
engineer's estimate.

35.70 RECREATION FACILITY

Under 713.00 Temporary and Part-time Pay, the amount should be $63,000 and not
$85,000. Everything else is pretty much the same.

6000 CONTINGENCY:

Mr. Ollendorff stated that the contingency would end up with about $250,000.

MISCELLANEOUS ISSUES:

Mr. Ollendorff said that .02 for the Pension fund is not needed and could be dropped to
lower the tax rate to .98. Discussion ensued and the sense of Council was to leave the .02
in the tax rate, in the eventuality of any unforseen circumstances which could occur in a
couple years due to the Census. Responding to Mr. Munkel, Mr. Ollendorff responded that
the ladder truck would have to be purchased under a bond issue. Responding to Mr.
Schoomer, Mr. Ollendorff said the City had $3 million in reserves. Only $2 million is really
needed to float the City. Responding to Mr. Munkel, Mr. Ollendorff responded that the
figures for Health Insurance reflect a 3% increase for both plans.

ADJOURNMENT:

Mayor Adams adjoumed the meeting at 9:26 p.m.

Leisha K. Meine, City Clerk

7
