Planned Study Session dates for the calendar year of 2007. The calendar will need to be
formalized in two months. The format is slightly different in that the Regular Council
sessions are on the first and third Monday of every month but several holidays will fall on
some Mondays and will need to be moved to a Tuesday. Tuesday could interfere with
some Commission meeting times. The months of July, August, November and December
will have only one meeting. She suggested that Study session be before each of the
Council regular sessions. Ms. Feier put it up to the Council for discussion.

Ms. Brot said that she was pleased with the effort to formulate a definite cycle for Council
meetings. Ms. Brot felt like she has been an advocate for Study sessions so issues could
be discussed and hopefully mutually remedied. She has long felt that it is impossible to
make progressive forward movements if Council did not meet in order to become more
knowledgeable of the facts and then to discuss the pros and cons. She would like to add
additional study sessions that are longer than an hour, at least once a quarter.

Ms. Feier asked if Council would like for her to pick a date each quarter for a longer
meeting. She also asked Council if they would like for her to schedule Public Hearings on
the Budget in addition to the four quarterly meetings.

Ms. Brot asked Ms. Feier if the budget meetings could be reviewed differently now. She
would like to review a department as a whole and evaluate how they are progressing
instead of doing line by line.

Mr. Price asked if it had to be decided at this meeting. He felt that he does a lot of his
studying on his own and would not need many study sessions. He suggested that the 50
plus issues be prioritized as he did not want to have 50 study sessions. He was not in
favor of many study sessions.

Ms. Brot said that she was not advocating 50 study sessions. She felt she was well
prepared for each Council session but what she was looking for was an interchange of
ideas. We can learn from each other as there is not just one position. Some of the study
issues require give and take about how do we really want to handle an issue or solve the
problems for our citizens.

CITIZENS’ COMMENTS
Mayor Adams said that a citizen had asked to speak on the calendar and noted that a
discussion with the City Manager would have to take place to formulate a way to handle
citizen’s comments and still maintain streamlining the new agenda format.

Mae Etta Weston, 1595 Mendell
Ms. Weston wanted to be sure the City understood the dislike of the style of the 2006
calendar. The day’s numbers were extremely hard to read as they were printed vertically
instead of horizontally and the light grey lines dividing each day were so faint that anyone
with weaker eyesight found it hard to read.

Mayor Adams announced the results of the votes for Ward Two councilmember
replacement. He announced the top three candidates alphabetically:
1. Lisa Greening
2. Wayne Munkel
3. Lynn Ricci
