Other members present were: <br />William Field Ewald Winker, Interim Director <br />Karen Palmer Lynda Euell-Taylor, Recreation Superintendent <br />Linda Peoples Lynn Ricci, Council Liaison <br /> <br />Excused Absence: Karen Dille, Gwendolyn Gaines-Beckwith, Caryn St. Clair <br />Disposition of Minutes from May 24, 2011 and Special Meeting from July 12, 2011 <br />Minutes reviewed. Mr. Field moved to approve minutes, Ms. Palmer seconded. Vote taken: all approved. <br />Citizen’s comments on items not on Agenda <br /> – None <br />Department Report <br /> <br />Mr. Winker reported on the following: <br /> <br /> <br /> Request by Karen Palmer – Been told that the lights being off is a final decision; inquiry as to how many <br />neighbors complained about the lights, Revenue lost, most recent responses from neighbors, and cost <br />savings of $11,000 by turning the lights off completely – Electric cost? – Mr. Winker clarified the <br />$11,000 figure was actually the estimated loss of net revenue with the lights off, and not a cost savings. <br /> <br /> <br /> Poles and netting have been installed at #7 fairway at Ruth Park <br /> <br /> <br /> Landscape design firm (The Lawrence Group) will conduct a “Kick Off” meeting <br />Thursday July 28, 2011 – Ruth Park Driving Range (5:00pm) I have invited members of the most <br />recent range committee members to attend; Austin Tao is the firms principal who has performed work <br />for University City in the past; including the design/development and construction of both Majerus and <br />Kaufman Parks. <br /> <br /> <br /> SWT Design team for Flynn Playground developing bid packet for construction firms – school <br />construction slowed due to MSD easement issues; which are delaying our construction. <br /> <br /> <br /> Developing specifications for the playground project at Mooney Park. Trying to avoid the bidding of the <br />playground - (committee selected a specific playground manufacturer). <br /> <br /> <br /> Bike Cross Special Event has been given tentative approval for the race in Heman Park. <br /> <br /> <br />
