<br /> <br />Park Commission Minutes – 72611, pg. 2 <br />Council Liaison Report <br /> <br />Ms. Ricci reported the following: <br /> <br /> Applications for upcoming special events (i.e. bike race, jazz festival, UCHS alumni picnic) need to be <br />submitted to Council for fee waiver <br /> <br /> Met with Great River Greenway; study session to be developed, would like Park Commissioners to <br />attend <br /> <br /> Council will be reviewing all grants received by City (i.e. requirements, process, etc.) <br /> <br />Ms. Ricci recommended Park Commission develop policy regarding waiving fees for special event <br />requests. Mr. Sweeney suggested this be a topic for September agenda. <br /> <br />Mr. Field gave an overview on net revenues and operating expenses for Ruth Park Golf Course. Mr. <br />Sweeney asked Mr. Field to provide this report monthly to commissioners. <br /> <br />Individual Park Reports <br /> <br />William Field – Ruth Park Golf Course: remarkably good shape; needs long term landscape planning. <br /> <br />Linda Peoples – Fogerty Park: needs woodchips, few branches need trimming, tennis court is in need of repair; <br />Mr. Winker indicated he planned to make recommendations regarding this facility <br /> Greensfelder Park: needs woodchips, playground equipment rusting towards the top <br /> <br />Karen Palmer – Mooney Park: playground looks nice/tidy; Kaufman Park: seems to have bits of litter <br /> <br />John Sweeney – Adams Park/Lewis Park: both look good. Flynn Park – looks bad due to construction <br /> <br />Unfinished Business - <br />none <br />. <br />New Business <br /> <br />Mr. Sweeney reported Nancy MacCartney asked if a Park Commissioner would become a member of the <br />Parkview Gardens group. Mr. Sweeney indicated he would accept their request. <br /> <br />Ms. Euell-Taylor presented staff recommendations regarding changes to Heman Pool policies. The <br />commission recommended the current policies remain in place for this season and this item be placed on the <br />September agenda for a vote by the commission to implement next season. <br /> <br />Ruth Park Golf Course Special Promotion – Mr. Field agreed it would be good for towards increasing play; Ms. <br />Peoples would like the time extended to 4:30-5:00 pm; Ms. Ricci recommended any items needing a vote <br />designated on the agenda as “vote required”. The Commission gave the promotional rates conditional <br />approval, and stressed a vote would be needed to make them part of the Park Department Comprehensive <br />Fees and Charges plan. <br /> <br /> <br />
