He wished to speak in favor of
the resolution to oppose the Page Avenue Freeway. The club is concerned about the environmental
impact of the freeway, in that it would cause the destruction of Creve Coeur Park and open up the
floodplain of the Missouri River to new construction. They are also concerned about the impact the
freeway would have on the Metropolitan region as a whole. The money, approximately $6 million
dollars, should be invested in the inner ring areas. St. Louis City and County residents have voted to
tax themselves for MetroLink, St. Charles County, on the other hand, has voted twice not to tax
themselves for MetroLink. He urged the City Council to adopt the resolution.

Mr. Schoomer moved adoption of the resolution by acclamation. Mr. Wagner seconded the motion.

Mr. Wagner thanked Mr. Towers for his comments and said that he wholeheartedly agreed with him.
He said that the resolution gives seven good reasons why the Council should pass the resolution
