Session 1703, Minutes 2
August 18, 1997

opposing the bridge and Mr. Towers stated some others. Mr. Wagner felt the chief reasons were the
environmental and financial impact on the area. He is in favor of the resolution.

Mr. Munkel said that there was not a state plan for this region and he felt that it was premature to plan
the extension until the needs for the entire area could be reviewed.

Mayor Adams said that one of the problems with the Page Avenue extension is that three bridges
have been built over a period of several years to the St. Charles region. He wondered about how
many more bridges there really needed to be. There are many other infrastructure needs in the St.
Louis County and City area that are not being addressed by the Department of Transportation. He
feels that some of these issues should take priority and be addressed,

The City Clerk read the resolution which will become a permanent part of the minutes.

The all aye motion carried unanimously.

Mayor Adams noted that after signing, a copy will go to East-West Gateway, the County Council and
County Executive and to the Lieutenant Governor.

CITY MANAGER'S REPORTS:

CONSENT CALENDAR (8 ITEMS)

# I o Street Improvement Assessments: The City Manager reported that each year the City Council
sets the special rate for paving of unimproved public streets. He recommended that the rate for the
current fiscal year be set at $36.67 per front foot, which is based on the change in construction cost
from last year to this. This figure also represents less than half of the full cost of such proiects with the
balance being paid with public funds.

#2 - Pick-Up Trucks: Invitations to Bid for providing two GMC pick-up trucks for the Central Garage
have been received. Bids were sent to five companies with three responses returned. The bids were
tabulated as follows:

Feld Chevrolet
Ackerman Chevrolet
Butler Chevrolet

$36,360.00
$36,8O8.O0
$37,550.00

No MBE or FBE suppliers in this category.

Mr. Ollendorff recommends awarding the purchase to Feld Chevrolet for $36,360.0.00.
