<br />INTRODUCED BY: DATE: October 23, 2006 <br /> <br /> <br /> 8913 <br />BILL NOORDINANCE NO. <br />. <br /> <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 34 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF <br />THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, RELATING TO ZONING, BY REPEALING <br />SECTION 34-104.2 THEREOF RELATING TO PERMITTED SIGNS, AND <br />ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF A NEW SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS <br />"SECTION 34-104.2 PERMITTED SIGNS," BY AMENDING SAID SECTION SO <br />AS TO CREATE A NEW CATEGORY OF TEMPORARY SIGNS; CONTAINING <br />A SAVINGS CLAUSE AND PROVIDING A PENALTY. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UNIVERSITY CITY, <br />MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, at its meeting held at City Hall at 6:30 p.m. on September 27, 2006, the <br />University City Plan Commission recommended an amendment of Section 34-104.2 of the <br />University City Zoning Code by adding provisions that create a category of temporary signs; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, due notice of public hearings to be held by the City Council in the City <br />Council Chambers at City Hall at 6:30 p.m. on ____________________, was duly published <br />in the ____________________, a newspaper of general circulation within said City; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said public hearings were held at the time and place specified in said <br />notice, and all suggestions or objections concerning said amendment were duly heard and <br />considered by the City Council; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />UNIVERSITY CITY, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section 1. Chapter 34 of the Municipal Code of the City of University City, Missouri, <br />relating to zoning is hereby amended by repealing Section 34-104.2, relating to Permitted <br />Signs, and enacting in lieu thereof a new section to be known as "Section 34-104.2 <br />Permitted Signs," by amending said section so as to create a category called temporary <br />signs, as so amended shall read as follows: <br /> <br />34-104.2 Permitted signs. <br />Except as otherwise limited in this section, the following types of signs are permitted, <br />without a sign permit, in all of the zoning districts of University City: <br />1. Temporary Signs – On-Premise Yard Signs (for example, Real Estate Signs, <br />Construction Signs, Political Signs and other temporary yard signs). <br />Consisting of temporary signs not exceeding ten square feet in gross area for each ten <br />thousand (10,000) square feet of lot area or fraction thereof and not exceeding three <br />feet in height for each ten thousand (10,000) square feet of lot area or fraction thereof; <br />provided, the height limitations shall not apply to signs displayed in windows or <br />attached directly to building walls. Height shall be measured from the ground at the <br />base of the sign to the highest point of the sign or its support. In the case of real <br />estate signs and construction signs, Ssuch signs shall be displayed only on the <br /> <br /> <br />
