Requests on roads under St.Louis County’s jurisdiction: <br /> <br /> <br />Olive Blvd – Midland Blvd and Olive Blvd – Hanley Road Traffic Signals. <br /> <br />Stephanie Schlaifer, resident at 7425 Carleton Avenue explained her request to <br />remove the flashing yellow arrow operation for Midland and Hanley left turns onto <br />Olive Blvd, while the pedestrian walk sign is activated by a pedestrian to cross Olive <br />Blvd, to increase pedestrian safety. <br />Commissioner Smith clarified that what is requested is a dedicated walk sign. <br /> <br /> <br />Hanley Road and Carleton Avenue Pedestrian Signal. <br /> <br /> Stephanie Schlaifer, resident at 7425 Carleton Avenue explained her request to put <br />the inactive pedestrian traffic signal into operation for pedestrians to safely cross <br />Hanley Road to get to and from Millar Park. <br /> <br /> Ms. Gutierrez explained that a previous communication had been established with <br />St. Louis County and they have reported the following: “This traffic signal was <br />recently put on blink when the near-by school closed. The school was recently re- <br />opened, but it is our understanding that all of the students are bused in a temporary <br />situation. However, the pedestrian signal will be turned back on full working order <br />this week to provide safe crossing for pedestrians to and from Millar Park.” <br /> <br /> <br />Commissioner Bondareff made a motion to request to the Missouri Department of <br />Transportation – MoDOT to improve the traffic signals at the Olive Blvd and Hanley Road <br />and Olive Blvd and Midland Blvd intersections, to implement a dedicated walk on both <br />sides of the intersection crossing Olive Blvd. Commissioner Brot seconded the motion and <br />was unanimously approved. <br /> <br />Ms. Schlaifer added to the request that at the North West corner of Midland Blvd and Olive <br />Blvd, the pedestrian heads of the traffic signal need to be rotated to be visible from <br />pedestrians. <br /> <br />The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m. <br /> <br />Minutes prepared by Angelica Gutierrez, Public Works Liaison <br /> <br />Traffic Commission Minutes – September 14, 2011 Page 7 <br />
