UCRS
received notice this past spring that the City would no longer provide
funding for programming. Without City funding UCRS has decided to dissolve as
an organization. The City is funding them through December. We will attempt to
transition as much information regarding programming in the coming months in
order to maintain as many programs as possible with existing staff. If it is not
possible we may need to contract for service or bring on additional staff. There
are many exciting marketing efforts in the community for which we could serve as
a central agency. As Council requested, an offer was made to the existing
executive director. She respectfully declined this week. I will send a notice to
UCRS and the Director to begin the transition conversation next week.

WIFI
The City is collaborating with St. Louis County on a effort to expand
wireless internet service throughout the County. The two
houses on Wilson (1092 & 1130) are still standing:
?
There was a long process to acquire the homes from the owners. We
acquired the houses in July.
?
After we purchased, we had to get the asbestos test done and complete an
inventory in September.
?
They are to be demolished by 12/31/06. Demolition bids are due today.
?
After the homes are demolished, the area will be green space. Nothing can
be built on the area. However, it can be used for recreational activities (i.e.,
trail, park).
The preference would be for the residents on each side to adopt the planted
parcels, which would provide them with additional space and the City with less
maintenance.

A public hearing has been posted for November 6, at 6:30 PM regarding the
trucks on city streets
proposed ordinance to allow parking of residential .

holding Council office hours
Council Members Brot, Wagner and Ricci are on
the second floor of City Hall.
