Mayor Welsch repeated the motion, to postpone the vote on the new fire house until <br />there is a public hearing at the October 24, 2011, Council meeting. Residents will be <br />asked to give their input on the new fire house, including such issues as the hiring of <br />an independent project manager and to include minority participation on the project. <br />A final vote on a resolution on the fire house will be taken at the subsequent Council <br />meeting in November. <br /> <br />Mayor Welsch called for a voice vote to postpone the vote on resolution 2011 – 14 <br />carried by a majority with Mr. Sharpe voting Nay. <br /> <br />BILLS TO BE INTRODUCED <br /> <br />O. CITIZEN PARTICIPATION (continued if needed) <br />Paulette Carr, <br />Ms. Carr said it is good to have a public hearing on the proposed fire house but the City <br />needs to get the word out about it. <br /> <br />P. COUNCIL COMMENTS <br />Mr. Glickert said the City has signs where they do not belong. He asked the City <br />Manager to have Public Works remove the improper signs from public property. <br /> <br />Mr. Crow said he has been contacted by every single person on the 200 block of Linden <br />on the U City and Clayton side that their street light has been out since January 2010. <br />He said they agreed to pay to have a historic street light installed. Mr. Crow asked if <br />someone from the City would respond to them. <br /> <br />Mayor Welsch noted her last contact with the residents on Linden that they have been <br />working with Public Works Director Ms. Shields on these historic street lights. <br /> <br />Mr. Sharpe said he hoped many citizens will participate in “Make a Difference Day” on <br />October 22. <br /> <br />Mayor Welsch seconded Mr. Sharpe’s request noting the department of Community <br />Development is organizing volunteer opportunities throughout the community and if <br />there were any questions to contact the Department of Community Development. <br />Mayor Welsch reminded Council and residents of a public meeting the next day from a <br />representative from the Attorney General’s office speaking on the Sunshine Law of <br />Missouri. Mayor Welsch said she had the Mayor’s large meeting on Regional Youth <br />Initiatives and the group is moving forward with subcommittees working on mapping <br />resources within the wider community; on researching best practices around the <br />country; and working on youth outreach.
