IF THE APPLICANT CHOOSES NOT TO APPLY for the occupancy permit due
to fees being owed or open building permits be sure they understand that they
cannot occupy the premises until their housing obligation are cleared and they
are issued an occupancy permit.

IF THE APPLICANT CHOOSES TO APPLY for the occupancy permit be sure
to explain that the $25 application fee is non-refundable. Ensure that the property
is large enough for the number of people on the occupancy permit application and
that all persons listed on the application fall within the definition of a family –
which means that no more than 3 unrelated individuals can occupy the same
dwelling unit. If the applicant feels that the unit is larger than what our records
indicate, then an inspection for “measurements” should be arranged (no charge).

*If there is a current inspection but the occupancy status indicates “occupancy
prohibited” arrange a reinspection with the applicant. Make sure that they
understand that their application cannot be accepted until the “prohibit” is lifted
off of the property.

Inspection Fees

Payments for inspections are due at the time of scheduling. The cost for a single
family housing inspection is $77. A building with 3 or more units is $60 per unit.
Inspections can be scheduled in person or via postal mail.

Remember to check the inspection fees in the black three ring binders and trash
bill to make sure there are no fees owed before scheduling inspections.

Scheduling Housing Inspections

The Property Maintenance Inspectors can have up to six original inspections and four
reinspections per ay. The Specialty Inspectors (Plumbing, Mechanical, and Electrical)
can have up to 10 inspections per day. REMEMBER: (1) Always check the original date
of the last inspection. If the inspection has been done within 6 months of the date of
applying for a new inspection, a new inspection does not have to be conducted—this is
only if the original inspection had 0 violations. However, if violations were noted and it
is still within the 6 months, inform the person who is scheduling that they will need a
reinspection performed and (2) check for any delinquent fees on the property.

?

Enter Govern
?

Open the “Housing” department application (Property Control should be

highlighted) resembles a manila folder that is open
?

Enter the address in Property Location and then type in the address
?

Click “Browse” and select the correct address
2
