<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Regular Meeting of the Park Commission <br />City of University City <br />September 27, 2011 <br />Centennial Commons, 7210 Olive Blvd. <br /> <br />President John Sweeney called the meeting to order at 6:31 pm. Other members present were: <br />Karen Dille Ewald Winker, Interim Director <br />William Field Lynda Euell-Taylor, Recreation Superintendent <br />Karen Palmer <br />Linda Peoples (arrived at 6:35 pm) <br />Caryn St. Clair <br /> <br />Excused Absence: Gwendolyn Gaines-Beckwith, Council Liaison, Lynn Ricci <br />Mr. Sweeney recommended changing the agenda to allow City Manager, Lehman Walker to discuss Ruth Park <br />Golf Course driving range prior to the formal agenda. Ms. St Clair moved to accept Mr. Sweeney’s <br />recommendation. Ms. Dille seconded. Vote taken: all approved. <br />Mr. Walker gave an overview of the Ruth Park Golf Course driving range. <br />Disposition of Minutes from July 26, 2011 and Special Meeting from August 22, 2011 <br />Minutes reviewed. Ms. St. Clair moved to approve minutes, Ms. Peoples seconded. Vote taken: all approved. <br />Citizen’s comments on items not on Agenda – Ms. Kim Jones, 8504 Elmore indicated the Fogerty Park tennis <br />courts are underutilized and proposed turning them into basketball courts. <br />Department Report <br />Mr. Winker reported on the following: <br /> <br />Update on projects <br /> <br />Flynn Park Playground $304,827 project <br /> <br /> <br />Moving forward – Council has approved staff recommendations for the playground equipment, <br />playground safety surface and general contractor for the renovation. Equipment chosen by the <br />selection committee is being purchased. <br /> <br />Mooney Park Playground $130,000 project ($25,000 last year for wall) <br /> <br /> <br />Moving forward – Council has approved staff recommendation for the playground equipment and ADA <br />improvements at the park. Equipment chosen by the selection committee is being purchased. <br />It is my hope that both projects are completed by late November. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
