The motion passed.
Questions/Comments and discussion:
-When should we meet with youth?
-Should we have them at our meeting or should we go to them?
-What are we trying to get from the youth? What information are we trying to get from
them?
-Not all activities should be at the schools because youth don’t always want to be at the
schools. A lot of youth activities are already going on but not everyone is aware of them.
Communication is important.
-Do the youth involved have to live in University City?
-Not sure.
-Surveys are ok. It is important to let people know what services are available. Providing
information is important.
-Perhaps we can circulate the survey and spread information at the same time. We need to
find out what services are available.
-What about the list from the Mayor? A list was compiled by Carolyn Amacher. We
should get a copy of that list.
-Who is here for youth? Who is here for seniors?
Clay Ware nominated himself as co-chairperson for youth. He stated he could put together
facebook page for it and will find other ways to communicate information about what is
available. He suggested a list of places that are youth friendly.
-A question was asked about what Kelly Lachajczyk does vs. what Clay Ware does.
Ms. Lachajczyk stated what she does is an after school program.
Mr. Ware stated he works with at-risk kids and kids who have been suspended from school. A
survey would help to know what kids are involved in and what is available.
-How do we get information to parents?
-What about combining services?
tm; šE
