Mayor Welsch stepped out. <br />Abbie Carter stated the importance of communicating with people to find out what they know, <br />rather than what we want to tell them. It is also important that youth are involved. All wards <br />should be represented. <br />Questions/Comments and discussion: <br />-Seniors and youth together is a large task. <br />-There has not been any youth present at our meetings. <br />-The need for two groups was suggested. The needs of the youth are different than needs <br />of seniors. <br />-Should we divide into subcommittees? <br />-We need to complete the document. Our first priority should be working on the report <br />card and setting up a meeting with the youth. <br />-When Proposition K was presented to build Centennial Commons, there was a survey of <br />high school students. This survey might be at City Hall. <br />Brief discussion about school district accreditation, skill level of students and programs offered <br />for students, specifically programs that serve or do not serve University City High School. <br />Kelly Lachajczyk mentioned programs by Discovering Options. Others asked for a brochure. <br />The Missouri Department of Mental Health has funded it. Discovering Options works to reduce <br />drug use. <br />-Many agencies try to get funds from the School District. Grants must be applied for to <br />get new programs. Funding is depleted for additional programs. <br />-We need to work on the survey. When can we get together to work on survey? <br />-It was suggested to get rid of poor, fair, etc. and to include “I don’t know” “Yes” and <br />“No.” <br />-Task Force members discussed options for numbering, number of choices, and wording <br />in the survey. <br />Jen Jensen made a motion to change the wording to 3 = Yes. 2 = No. 1 = I don’t know. <br />The motion was seconded by Bernetta Campbell. <br />tm; <br />šE <br /> <br />
