Questions/Comments and discussion:
-Some Task Force members stated they are unsure how to answer report cards. They do
not know the answers to the questions.
-Perhaps we should ask the residents, when they are filling out the form, if they have
knowledge about the items in the report card.
-Several Task Force members do not like the report card as it is currently written.
-Maybe residents are not expected to know the answers.Maybe it is our job to ask
residents questions to get a feel for what residents think.
-How should this be presented to residents?
Mayor Welsch stated it is intended to get a feel for where services stand based on resident input,
what the community is aware of, etc.
-Are we supposed to gather information from residents?
-Maybe we do not know the answers to all the questions or residents do not know.
Perhaps it is our job to find out if people do not know?
Mayor Welsch – We will take input from anyone. The goal is to determine what University City
needs. The report card and/or survey is one option. The document provided can be changed.
-Is it our job to know all the answers on the report card? Maybe we need to find out who
does know.
-Maybe the issue is accessibility to services.
-Use of the words poor, fair, and good, etc. is a bad idea and should be changed.
Mayor Welsch – We can change the wording of the survey. Another question, are there families
in transition? We need to know who is here and residents need to know what resources are
available.
-There have been a lot of foreclosures in University City. There are a lot of day care
associations.
Mayor Welsch – There is a need for after-school programs. The Task Force members need to
find out what is in University City. One example is the curfew issue in Loop. What can we as a
City provide for kids?
-There are no programs for seniors at Centennial Commons.
tm; šE
