<br />Task Force for Seniors and Youth <br />Meeting Minutes <br />June 9, 2011 <br />The meeting commenced at 6:30 pm. <br />Members in attendance:Non-members in attendance: <br /> <br />Abbie Carter Brittany Williams <br />Shirley Soule Christina Johnson <br />Clay Ware Rikki Byrd <br />Victor Pichon Kelly Sullivan <br />Genice Self Roseann Weiss <br />Karen Robards Carol Wofsey <br />Beverly Sporleder Jacinta Woods <br />Maxine Harris Erianna Henderson <br /> Roneisha Simpson <br /> John Chasnoff <br /> Kareem Johnson <br /> Alice Floros <br /> Terry Artis <br /> Jacqueline Cox <br />Guests introduced themselves to the Task Force members. Guests included <br />representatives of the University City Youth Society, Epworth Children and Family <br />Services, and the Regional Arts Commission. The guests gave a brief summary of what <br />their organization does. <br />University City Youth Society helps area teens to combat violence. The organization <br />also tries to connect youth with adults. <br />Epworth Children and Family Services works with youth to overcome emotional and <br />behavioral challenges as well as working with homeless youth. <br />The Regional Arts Commission has been trying to find ways to combat violence in the <br />area. <br />Guests and Task Force members discussed ideas for activities for youth to give them <br />opportunities to be involved in positive activities. Recent events for youth included a <br />New Year’s dance and a basketball tournament. A proposal for a Peace Rally in The <br />Loop was also mentioned. <br />Mr. Pichon mentioned that Mayor Welsch is in process of bringing other municipal <br />officials into the conversation concerning our youth. <br />tm; <br />E <br /> <br /> <br />
